Benjamin Moore’s 2019 Color of the Year
Metropolitan AF-690: A stylish gray with cool undertones.

After selecting the firey red “Caliente” as its 2018 color of the year, Benjamin Moore has selected a much more calm, on-trend color for 2019. And we really like it a lot!
Here’s how Ellen O’Neill, Benjamin Moore’s Director of Strategic Design Intelligence, describes the 2019 color:
“Metropolitan AF-690 emanates nuance, harmony and extravagant ease. Always adaptable, it softens to matte or shimmers with sheen. It’s neutral. It’s understated. It just is. This is color, off-duty.”
2019 Color Trends Palette
In addition to announcing the 2019 color of the year, Benjamin Moore also released its 2019 Color Palette. This palette of hues contains deep blues, grays, and greens that are all complementary to Metropolitan. If you like Metropolitan, this palette could be a good source of inspiration as you plan color combinations for your painting project.

Why We Like Metropolitan
This sophisticated shade of gray, or “greige” as you may have heard it called, is versatile and upscale. We like its soothing appearance and that it can be used in virtually any room in the home.
